Staying connected with nature
/Nature is a real solace for me in these troubling times. Getting outside every day has kept me grounded, and helped me when I’ve felt anxious and worried. I’m so grateful for my connection with the natural world. This week I sent out my ‘Notes from Nature’ Autumn letter to my subscribers. I planned my introduction, but when I began to write, these words appeared instead….
The thing which has kept me going? My nature journal!
I've realised this year that it's more valuable then I ever realised. It provides me with so much:
My deep connection with the natural world
Focus for every day
Somewhere to express my creativity through words and images
A place to learn
Opportunity to share my love of nature
Connection (like Anne of Green Gables) with wonderful ‘kindred spirits’
The knowledge that nothing is ordinary; there is magic in the most mundane things
You don’t need to keep a journal to reap the benefits. If you’re feeling low, and you need some light to help you through the darkness, just get outside and connect with nature.
Look at the clouds, listen to the wind through the trees, count the raindrops on a branch, pick up an autumn leaf or two, marvel at the plant growing through a pavement crack….
The natural world makes no charge, it’s available for everyone, and gives us so much. All it needs is our love and protection.
Find your light through nature.
